please check with your health plan for referral requirements and coverage.
Biofeedback:
Biofeedback can help individuals learn to improve their health by recognizing
their body's responses to stress, tension and pain. Sensors taped to the skin
monitor changes in muscle activity, skin temperature, sweat activity, heart
rate and breathing patterns. Information from the sensors is processed in a
state-of-the-art computer system that "feeds back" the information
to you using a variety of visual displays and sounds. You can watch and hear
how your body is responding to stress, anxiety, pain and tension.
A typical biofeedback program includes one session per week for four to six
weeks, with two to four follow-up sessions completing the program. At each one-hour
session you will learn and practice breathing, relaxation and stress management
techniques that you can use at home, work or play.
In addition to medical care, complementary
therapies can play an important role in helping you take care of yourself
and manage your pain.
All practitioners at United Pain Center are credentialed in their field of practice
and stay current through continuing education courses.
The Pain Center is located on the sixth floor of the Doctor's
Professional Building at 280 North Smith Avenue in St. Paul. For more information
