Nurses: Union harassing us

[Star Tribune; Minnesota Public Radio; WCCO 4 News; KARE 11 News, July 29, 2010] After they received letters summoning them to a disciplinary hearing, three Minneapolis nurses filed federal unfair labor practice charges against the Minnesota Nurses Association late Wednesday with the National Labor Relations Board. The letter said the nurses had been accused by their colleagues of crossing the picket line during a one-day strike in June.

MNA members staged a 24-hour walkout June 10 after bargaining broke down with 14 Twin Cities hospitals. They were gearing up for an open-ended strike when negotiators reached a last-minute settlement July 1. Affected hospitals included five owned by Allina Hospitals & Clinics.

Man rescued from Lake Nokomis

[KMSP-TV Fox 9, July 26, 2010] A man was rescued from Lake Nokomis on Monday. Charles Lick, MD, medical director of Allina Medical Transportation and director of emergency services at Buffalo Hospital, says people can survive for four to six minutes without oxygen to the brain and can get additional help from the body.
