ANGMA provides a full range of primary health care services to adults with special emphasis on chronic medical problems such as diabetes,
high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Diabetes
Having diabetes means that your body is having problems using the energy from the foods that you eat. Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are the most common types of chronic diabetes.
High blood pressure (hypertension) causes your heart to pump with greater than normal force to push blood through your blood vessels. Known as "the silent killer," high blood pressure usually has no symptoms. If left untreated, it can cause many health problems.
The Medicine Clinic provides primary health care services to members regardless of their ability to pay or speak English. It provides free medical care for patients at or near the poverty line, but at a cost that is much lower than emergency care. It is staffed by internal medicine residents who are supervised by experienced faculty physicians.
