The Infectious Disease Clinic (formerly Clinic 42) is an outpatient facility dedicated to serving people with chronic conditions such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV conditions and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome [AIDS] conditions), hepatitis and more.

The clinic also offers an International Travel Clinic where patients receive individualized immunizations and medications based on their specific medical history, itinerary and planned activities abroad to help minimize the risk of exposure to infection.

To contact us, call 612-863-5336 or visit our clinic in Suite 200 of the Medical Office Building, located on the Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus in Minneapolis (see location information).

A Team Approach To Care

Treatment is based on a multidisciplinary team approach with specialists chosen for their expertise in and dedication to treating people with infectious disease.

Medication Adherence Services at the Infectious Disease Clinic

Medication adherence means taking all medications correctly and at the right time. The challenges for people taking HIV medications include remembering to take their medications, fitting their medications into their daily schedule and uncomfortable side effects.

The Infectious Disease Clinic sponsors the Minnesota Medication Adherence Project, which offers one-to-one appointments with a pharmacist specializing in HIV care. This free individualized consultation includes evaluating barriers to adherence, assessing all medications being taken and evaluating medication side effects. You may receive medication adherence supplies such as pillboxes, watches or timers. Medication counseling is designed to complement the care you receive from your primary physician.

To make an appointment or for more information, call the Infectious Disease Clinic pharmacist at 612-863-1130. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

International Travel Clinic

Many travel clinics offer standard immunizations and medications. At the International Travel Clinic, our physicians individualize them to your specific medical history, itinerary and planned activities abroad to help minimize your risk of exposure to infection. The International Travel Clinic is also a yellow fever vaccination center approved by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Insurance

The Infectious Disease Clinic accepts most insurance plans and medical assistance. To ask whether your insurance is accepted, call us at 612-863-5336.

Building On A Strong History

The Infectious Disease Clinic began operating in 1987 as Minnesota’s first HIV outpatient clinic in a private hospital setting. Our mission remains focused on providing the highest quality diagnostic and therapeutic care and educational services—supported by clinical research—for people living with HIV and their families, partners and care givers. We remain in the forefront of providing quality of life care for people with HIV-related conditions.
