Your recovery at home

It will take time for you and your baby to recover from labor and birth. This period of time even has a special name -- postpartum-- meaning "after birth." This postpartum period is a significant one. It will take time for you and your partner to smoothly work a new person into your lives. Be gentle with yourself and with each other. Expect gradual adjustment, not instant perfection.
