This two-day intensive course provides foundational knowledge for the best practices of palliative care.

- describe how to improve the care for patients with advanced or terminal illness
- discuss how personal experiences with serious illness, death and dying influence what we bring to professional roles
- describe a holistic approach to pain and symptom management
- identify patients' emotional and spiritual needs
- describe the legal, ethical, cultural and communication issues faced while attending to patients and their families
